Introversion Software Announces DEFCON Launch

August 24, 2006: London

Introversion Software, 'the last of the bedroom programmers' and creators of the award-winning hit PC game - Darwinia - will be releasing their third title, DEFCON, at the end of September 2006. DEFCON will be retailed on Introversion's online store at £10 for download, and £12.50 for a download with a boxed copy (sent by post). A fantastic pre-order offer will go live mid-September, running for two weeks, where customers will have the opportunity to buy DEFCON for £10 and receive a complimentary boxed copy of the game. DEFCON will also be offered in a bundle pack with Introversion's two previous games Uplink and Darwinia for £30.

"We are really excited about DEFCON; it's an incredibly fascinating and nervous game to play" said Chris Delay, lead developer at Introversion Software, "DEFCON is exactly what people should be expecting from us, an innovative, utterly off-the-wall and addictive game experience." PC Format(UK) agreed when they wrote'"It's continent versus continent in a game ofmass genocide, but spectacularly detached from the humanity of it all - cold, calculating and remorseless".

DEFCON will also be available to buy via Steam ( www.steamgames.com) and at other retail outlets around the globe for just $14.95 towards the end of September.

About DEFCON

DEFCON is an online, competitive, multiplayer strategy game simulating global thermonuclear war. The game, inspired by the 1983 cult-classic film, Wargames, superbly evokes the tension, paranoia and suspicion surrounding the Cold War era. The player assumes the role of a General hidden deepwithin an underground bunker, his mission being to successfully exterminate the enemy's civilian population whilst simultaneously disabling the enemy's ability to retaliate. Desperate attempts must be made to form fast, tactical alliances - alliances that may at any moment break-down to become treacherous and very deadly betrayals.

About Introversion

Heralded as 'the last of the bedroom programmers', Introversion Software is a UK based independent games developer and publisher founded in 2001 by three university students. Starting out with a just £600, no advertising budget, and relying solely on the power of word-of-mouth, Introversion Software went on to produce the highly acclaimed, genre-defining, cult

hacking sim, Uplink. Three years later, Introversion released Darwinia - a highly innovative retro action game combining an innovative mix of RTS Gameplay and Arcade Action with spectacular graphics and iconic references to the halcyon days of gaming. Like Uplink it proved a massive hit with the press, and in March 2006 Darwinia was awarded three awards at the Independent Games Festival.
