Insomniac wins workplace award

California-based developer Insomniac Games has been named as one of the top five companies in the awards for "the 50 Best Small and Medium Sized Companies to Work For in America."

California-based developer Insomniac Games has been named as one of the top five companies in the awards for "the 50 Best Small and Medium Sized Companies to Work For in America."

Hosted by the Society for Human Resource Management, the Top 50 listing is now in its third year and Insomniac remains the only videogames company ever to receive the award - having also won the accolade last year.

Ted Price, Insomniac's founder and president, commented: "Itâs a real honour to be included once again among the five best small companies to work for in America because the ranking is based on our own employeesâ attitudes about Insomniac Games."

"Our back-to-back, top-five ranking demonstrates that concepts like âcollaboration,â âquality-over-quantityâ and âinnovationâ have real meaning here and are in practice every day," he added.

The distinction is based on random employee opinion surveys, measuring categories including workplace environment, managementâs responsiveness to employee feedback, and adherence to company philosophy.

The judging also factors in additional assessments of company programs, practices and workplace culture.

Renowned for its creation of multi-million selling franchises Ratchet & Clank and Spyro the Dragon, Insomniac currently employs more than 150 members of staff.

The company is actively recruiting additional staff in a variety of production-based positions as the developer continues to work on the release of PlayStation 3 exclusive, Resistance: Fall of Man.
