Showcasing the work of aspiring game developers and students seeking a foothold in the industry, the organisers of the Slamdance Guerrilla Gamemaker Competition has announced submission deadlines for the 2007 event.

An integral part of the Slamdance independent film festival, which is scheduled to take place from January 19th-27th, 2007, the GGC features several award categories, including a Grand Jury Prize, Audience Award, and two awards recognizing student achievement in Art and Technology, following the successful expansion of the competition for the 2006 event.

Previous winners include Procedural Arts' Façade, which scooped the Grand Jury Sparky Award, and N from Metanet Software, which picked up the Audience Award and also won the Audience Award at the 2005 IGF awards. Student submissions, for which awards were introduced at this year's event, included Rumble Box by Insert Coin, and Cloud by USC's Cloud Team. The new PopCap Casual Games Award went to Odyssey by Liquid Dragon Studios.

The early submission date has been set for September 1st, with a final deadline of September 29th. Finalists will be announced in December, and their games will be shown during the Slamdance Film Festival at the Games Venue.

Further details on entry submissions, competition rules and regulations and an online submission form can be found by visiting the official Slamdance website.
