Manchester, 21 November - iFone, the leading wireless entertainment publisher, today announced the launch of Love a Lemming, the second game in a series of mobile games from the popular Lemmings license. Love a Lemming is a virtual pet game that allows consumers to 'own' one of the popular green-haired creatures. The game will be available through all major network operators from December.
The aim of Love a Lemming is to name, tame and train your very own Lemming so that it can be successfully released into the wild. Players interact with the Lemming by feeding it and playing with it. Skills are learnt by playing the six mini games and by successfully completing each game players equip their Lemmings with the skills it needs to survive in the wild.
Once a player successfully releases their Lemming into the wild a special code is sent to their mobile. This code will allow them to download the same Lemming they have trained to play with in the next Lemmings game.
Jay Sharples, Product Development Manager at iFone, said, "We wanted to give players a deeper involvement with the Lemmings themselves through an entire series of Lemmings mobile games. Love a Lemming is the first of that series. For some players it will be the start of a long attachment with their Lemming, while for others it offers a great casual game."
Sharples continued, "By sending out the unique code to successful players, we're allowing them to reform the bond they had with their pet Lemming in later games. They will be able to look after their own pet Lemming and utilise the skills learnt - but each time within a totally new gaming environment".
The original Lemmings game from iFone first topped the ELSPA charts in May 2005 soon after its release. It has continued to be popular throughout the summer. Lemmings is one of the world's most successful console games, selling over 10 million copies since its introduction in the 1990s.
