Ideas in Action with Jim Glassman

Games discussed in weekly series that focuses on ideas and their consequences.

Dallas, Texas – (Nov. 11, 2010)– Dr. Peter Raad, founder and executive director of The Guildhall at SMU, a premier graduate level program in video game development, discusses the future landscape of video games on the nationally syndicated public television series, Ideas in Action with Jim Glassman.  He and series host, veteran journalist Glassman, delve into the implications of video games not only with regard to day-to-day lives, but also how the medium will be transformative on a much broader scale.

The video game business has grown into a $50 billion world-wide industry, while the role of video games continues to extend far beyond traditional applications. They are used to teach soldiers how to fight, surgeons how to operate, and children how to read.  Colleges and universities are responding to the growing demand by offering courses and degrees in game development.

Launched in mid-summer, the weekly series focuses on ideas and their consequences.  The host and former Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Glassman, presents a discussion of trends, conditions, and ideas at the heart of today’s issues and engages viewers with a diverse group of experts.
