HyperX ships five million gaming headsets

Fortnite and esports popularity drives gaming headset growth

LONDON - July 18, 2018 - HyperX®, the gaming division of Kingston® Technology Company, Inc., announced it has shipped five million headsets.

The award-winning gaming headsets have been flying off the shelves with the growing popularity of video games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).

"With the explosive growth of Fortnite, NBA 2K and esports, HyperX is seeing an exciting expansion with our accessories revenues in EMEA increase by over 150 per cent in Q1 of this year compared to the same time last year" said Julien Millet, business manager, HyperX EMEA.

"HyperX has been supplying hardcore gamers with gaming gear for over 10 years and we are now seeing our HyperX headsets becoming more popular with casual gamers. Shipping five million headsets is a major milestone considering we only entered the gaming headset market four years ago."

The gaming headset market continues to grow at a rapid pace with latest figures from Technavio's market research forecasting that the gaming headset market is set to grow at a CAGR of more than 7 per cent during the period 2018 - 2022.

HyperX is the official gaming headset partner of the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers, as well as, the NBA 2K League and its teams Mavs Gaming, Pacers Gaming, Grizz Gaming, Bucks Gaming and Jazz Gaming. Brand ambassadors from the NBA include Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings.
