Hudson announces Virtual Console titles for Wii

Hudson Entertainment has announced plans to launch more than 40 retro games for the Wii's Virtual Console service during 2007, with prices starting at EUR 6.

Hudson Entertainment has announced plans to launch more than 40 retro games for the Wii's Virtual Console service during 2007, with prices starting at EUR 6.

The initial batch of titles due out in Europe and the US will include Bonk's Adventure, Super Star Soldier, Victory Run, Bomberman 93 and Dungeon Explorer - all of which will be available by the end of the year. Japanese Wii owners will also get the option to buy Adventure Island and Necromancer.

Each game will cost a minimum of 600 Wii points, or EUR 6 / USD 6 / YEN 600, and will be available via the Wii Shop Channel. Users can buy points either via the online shop or from retail stores.

Hudson said it plans to release more than 60 games for the Virtual Console in Japan over the next year, while the US and Europe will get a further 40 titles. That will include third-party games for the TurboGrafx-16 (known as the PC Engine in Japan).

The news follows Nintendo's announcement that 30 Virtual Console games will be released by the end of 2006, including favourites from platforms such as the SNES and Megadrive.
