HTC Vive appoints Spotify and Disney exec as European GM

Paul Brown will work out of the firm's London office.

Paul Brown has been named as the new general manager for HTC Vive Europe.

He will be based out of the firm's London office and oversee Vive's VR content, software and hardware business for the European market.

Paul Brown started as a lawyer

Brown joins following six years at Disney as general manager of Digital D2C and Disney Interactive for the EMEA region. He led the launch of Disney's music and video subscription service DisneyLife. Prior to that, he was Spotify's UK MD and has held senior roles at Sony Music, Pandora Media and initially started his career as a lawyer at Hogan Lovells.

HTC believes that Brown's 'extensive experience at the forefront of new consumer media and content will help solidify Vive's position in the market as the VR industry continues to grow'.

Brown added: "I am incredibly excited to join the Vive team.

"Virtual reality has the potential to change the world and to genuinely unleash our imagination. HTC Vive is leading the way in truly immersive VR technology and content and we are only at the beginning of the journey, much like we were with music streaming and video on demand a decade ago. I am looking forward to working closely with the global Vive team to ensure we maintain and build on our position as a leader and pioneer, with our partners, in the VR space."
