Hollow Knight surpasses 1 million copies sold on PC alone

Milestone was reached one day before the game's Nintendo Switch launch

Team Cherry's adorable gothic Metroidvania, Hollow Knight, has sold over one million copies on Windows, Linux, and Mac since its launch in February of last year.

The game reached the half-million mark last November on PC. As reported by Kotaku Australia, Team Cherry revealed that the one million milestone was reached just a day before the game's Nintendo Switch launch.

The Nintendo Switch version went on to sell 250,000 copies in less than two weeks, bringing the game's total sales to over 1.25 million. With these sales numbers, Hollow Knight joins games like Shovel Knight and Stardew Valley in the growing list of Nintendo Switch indie success stories.

A third expansion to the game, including new charactes, boss fights, music, and a new game mode is planned for later this year on both PC and Switch.
