HMV 5-a-side raises £14,500 for CLIC Sargent

Children's cancer charity benefits as industry turns out for football tournament

HMV has revealed that its annual industry 5-a-side football tournament, which took place last Friday, has raised over £14,500 for CLIC Sargent, a children's cancer charity.

The event, which involved teams from videogames business such as Electronic Arts, Activision Blizzard, Koch Media and Microsoft, also included entrants from other media industries as well with companies such as Paramount, Sony Music and Universal Music also represented.

The tournament featured eight groups of five teams, which the top two from each one progressing to the knock-out stage. The eventual winners, Careline Services - HMV's customer care company - defeated Shine PR in the final.

EA Sports and Microsoft were among the companies that supported the event with prize donations, with next year's tournament pencilled in for Friday May 13.
