Heather Chandler to Lecture at IGDA Leadership Forum, Future Play, and Montreal Game Summit

Heather Chandler, Executive Producer and founder of Media Sunshine, Inc., will present three lectures to the video game industry in the month of November. A veteran producer with shipped-title experience at Activision, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft, Heather will be presenting information gathered during her 11 years in the video game industry.

"Local Anesthetic: Painless Game Localization" will be presented at the IGDA Leadership Forum in San Francisco on Friday, November 9th. The seminar will focus on preventative measures that can streamline the localization process. Techniques will be discussed for effectively planning and executing a localization, working effectively with translators and localization vendors, and creating localization-friendly code. "Game Development Project Management Workshop" will be presented at Future Play in Toronto on November 14th. This pre-conference seminar is a day-long session that is geared towards game production professionals, including production personnel, studio management, and team leads. Registrants will learn about next-generation production cycles, including information on preproduction, production, postproduction, and testing. The session will discuss how to apply project management methodologies to game development, including Agile Development, Personal Software Process (PSP), and PMP certification. The session also covers production techniques for keeping projects on track, such as utilizing cross-functional teams, prototyping game features, and conducting a risk analysis. Information team-building and motivational techniques, like giving feedback, communication, and management challenges will also be presented.
