Guitar Hero World Tour

$2,000 and assorted goodies up for grabs in the tournament at the E for All Expo.

MINNEAPOLIS - Oct. 2, 2008 - Aspiring rock stars from across the continent will soon be flocking to compete for fame and fortune in a Target®-sponsored first-ever North American Guitar Hero® World Tour challenge at this year’s Entertainment For All® Expo (E for All®), which takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 3-5. Four-person teams will rock out to a list of the game’s hit tracks, from the Beastie Boys to Modest Mouse, for the chance to win* over $2000 in cash, Target GiftCards and merchandise.

“In the spirit of E For All, Target will be giving consumers an early look at Activision’s highly-anticipated Guitar Hero World Tour videogame before it hits store shelves on October 26,” said Mark Schindele, SVP, Target. “E for All is a great opportunity for us to connect with an audience who may not think about Target as the first place to buy their games.”

E For All attendees who wish to showcase their Guitar Hero® skills at the Target tournament and compete to be called the ultimate virtual rock star can enter by signing up on Friday or Saturday at the show and rocking out in the preliminary rounds with the goal of taking the stage in Sunday’s big final at 1 p.m. Winners and attendees alike can spend some of their hard-earned cash on a Nintendo Wii or popular games like Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith at the on-site Target pop-up retail store.

When the house lights go down this fall, a new generation of guitarists, drummers and fearless frontmen will come together and rock with Guitar Hero World Tour. The latest installment in the #1 best-selling video game franchise of 2007, Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless controllers with new revolutionary online** and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online for the first time ever. The game features a slick newly redesigned guitar controller, drum kit controller and a microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems. Music creators will also be able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunesSM where other gamers can download and play an endless supply of unique original creations.

Guitar Hero World Tour is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The Wii™ version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version is being developed by Budcat. The game is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB.
