Guild Wars Is Number One

NCsoft’s online role-playing game tops the charts around the world

Wednesday 25 May 2005/... ArenaNet®'s Guild Wars®, the competitive online role-playing game, is on course for worldwide success after reaching the number one spot in the PC charts in Europe and North America.

Guild Wars, which was released by NCsoft® on 28th April, has quickly become a hit amongst both hardcore and casual games players and has received rave reviews from some of the top gaming press, including UK's PC Zone who awarded the game 94 per cent.

For the fourth week running Guild Wars remains at the top of the PC charts in the UK and is also riding high at the top of the French, German, Spanish, Scandinavian and North American charts.

"The success of Guild Wars in Europe and North America has been fantastic," says Dirk Metzger, Marketing Director, NCsoft Europe. "The high demand for retail copies is certainly keeping us busy - but in a good way."

Guild Wars is a global online role-playing game (RPG) that allows gamers to play with anyone, anytime and anywhere in the world. The no-subscription-fees-required policy and the emphasis on instant action rather than time spent playing has undoubtedly resulted in the huge commercial success that Guild Wars has received.
