Gran Turismo PSP set for October 1 release

Racer to feature 800 vehicles and 35 tracks; Metal Gear Solid title also unveiled

Two new key titles for the PlayStatio Portable were unveiled at Sony's E3 press conference in LA today - Gran Turismo PSP, from Polyphony Digital, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, from Kojima Productions.

The first of the two - touted as a possible title for the PSP even before the hardware originally launched - has now become reality, and will be released on October 1 alongside the officially-confirmed PSP Go.

The game will feature over 800 cars and 35 tracks, with a single player mode which includes standard racing, time trials, drift trials and a legacy licence mode, while you're also able to share and trade cars with others online.

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was also announced by Hideo Kojima, set for a 2010 release.

He scotched rumours of early retirement by confirming he would be "heavily involved" in the game's production which will "take into account the PSP's unique features".
