Gran Turismo 5 pushes Black Ops from UK number one

Sony and Polyphony Digital's racer Gran Turismo 5 has made the top of the UK chart in its opening week, pushing the record-selling Call of Duty: Black Ops down to second.

The racing sim suffered inumerable delays and setbacks on the path to release, but all of the tweeking, testing and fine-tuning paid off with some excellent review scores and a corresponding retail performance.

GT5 is the only new entry in a resilient top ten which sees Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in third, FIFA 11 in fourth and Just Dance 2 holding on to fifth.

The next-highest new entry is Red Dead Redemption expansion, Undead Nightmare at 14, although GFK Chart-Track's figure's only cover boxed retail, not download sales.

It wasn't a week of bumper releases, as the industry winds down schedules to concentrate on Christmas marketing, but neither Def Jam Rapstar, nor Disney's Epic Mickey, both released last week, made the top 40. Ubisoft's Michael Jackson: The Experience outsold them both at 32.
