Golden Joysticks returns for 2004

The long-running Golden Joystick awards are set to return for another year, with organiser Dennis Publishing announcing today that this year's awards will be presented at an event at the Park Lane Hotel in London on November 5th.

The awards, which were first presented in 1983 (when Ultimate Play The Game, now better known as Rare, won the top accolade), are voted for by the public following industry nominations in each category - with voting due to open shortly.

No further details of this year's ceremony have been announced, but Dennis Publishing is promising "a high-profile host, larger media partners and a dazzling event," which all sounds rather good to us.

"The Golden Joystick Awards honour the quality of the games themselves, making them one of the most important and respected accolades in the business," gushed Dennis' group publishing director Duncan Tickell. "We can't wait to reveal what titles have really captured the hearts, minds and thumbs of our gamers."
