Justin Crosby's new Boom! agency doing the PR.

3 August 2009 Future UK have appointed new PR and creative communications agency Boom! to handle the mainstream PR push for the 2009 Golden Joystick Awards.

Boom! will handle media relations for the event as well being tasked with assessing mainstream media partnerships and liaising with the event’s video games industry stakeholders. Will Guyatt, Future’s UK Media Relations Manager will continue to liaise with specialist media. The campaign kicks off with immediate effect.

Emma Parkinson, Associate Publisher at Future, and Organiser of the Golden Joystick Awards, said: “With Justin’s wealth of games and entertainment industry experience and his involvement in countless successful media partnerships there was no question in Future signing up with Boom! for the Golden Joystick Awards PR push. Justin has bought fresh ideas and some exciting new partners to the table. We look forward to developing our relationship and delivering the best ever Golden Joysticks.

“We’re delighted at being appointed to promote the Golden Joystick Awards. To have the UK’s leading special-interest publisher as our first client and the world’s biggest games awards as our first project is something we are very excited about. We’re looking forward to taking the mainstream awareness of the event to a whole new level” said Justin Crosby, founder of Boom!

Boom! has been set up by Justin Crosby who has over 15 years experience working in the games and entertainment industries creating award winning campaigns for brands such as Microsoft Xbox, Activision, Eidos, Carling, Philips Electronics and Miller Genuine Draft.

The Golden Joysticks are the games industry’s most-loved awards and the industry’s acceptance as a mass market form of entertainment looks set to be reflected in the popularity of 2009’s event - a record-breaking 690,000 votes having already been cast by gaming enthusiasts.

Featuring 15 gamer-voted categories, the event is world’s longest-running video games awards, first held back in 1982. Votes cast now at www.goldenjoystick.com will directly decide who scoops a prestigious Golden Joystick when the winners are announced in London on Friday, 30th October.
