Gmedia claims mobile gaming first with The One Hope

New title is the biggest mobile game yet to be launched, says Irish firm

Irish game publisher Gmedia has launched a new RPG title, The One Hope, on 3 mobiles in the UK - boasting that the title is the largest game ever to be released on a mobile handset.

The turn-based title is the latest mobile game from Pascal Luban, who previously worked on the Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory titles on home console and PC platforms.

The claim to be the largest title on the market springs from a 15-level, 800KB version of the product, which will be launched on networks in Japan - where mobile technology is sufficiently advanced to make this possible.

The One Hope will also be launched on all major networks across the world, with Gmedia claiming that support for over 600 handsets and a potential reach of over 2 billion subscribers gives it the largest market penetration of any title to date.

The firm is also hoping to publish the game on a number of other platforms, including Xbox Live Arcade, Nintendo DS and PC casual gaming services, with a roll-out on those platforms due in 2008.
