Glu's China MD joins Sky-mobi

Gio Zhang takes the role of senior vice president of game operations

Glu Mobile's managing director for China has joined the mobile app platform Sky-mobi to lead its games division.

Gio Zhang helped establish Glu Mobile in China, establishing partnerships with local publishers and handling localisation and distribution of games in the region. Prior to that Zhang was vice managing director for Gameloft China.

As senior vice president of game operations at Sky-mobi, Zhang will enjoy the same broad remit that he did in his work at Glu.

"Gio is a highly regarded and respected veteran in China's fast-growing mobile gaming industry," said Michael Tao Song, CEO of Sky-mobi, in a statement.

"He brings with him years of experience in leading international gaming companies in developing and expanding their businesses successfully in Asia by establishing local partnerships, cultivating local talents, and selecting and marketing leading games."

Zhang started his new role at Sky-mobi yesterday.
