Glu Mobile partners with TeliaSonera

SurfPort portal to offer Glu branded content throughout Scandinavia

Mobile game publisher and developer Glu Mobile has announced a new partnership with Baltic telecommunications firm TeliaSonera to offer its extensive catalogue of Glu-branded games throughout Scandinavia.

Subscribers to TeliaSonera's mobile network will be able to download Glu games using the SurfPort mobile portal, currently available to users in Sweden. Norway, Denmark, Finland and Lithuania will receive the new gaming service by the end of the year.

Glu Mobile's vice president for production EMEA, Kristian Segerstrale, commented: "Launching publisher-driven direct to consumer channels is another step towards mobile games becoming truly mainstream. Managing our own branded channel on TeliaSonera's SurfPort will help customers to better understand the great value and entertainment mobile games can offer, and make the purchase process as simple as possible."

Selection and downloading of Glu's titles has been designed to be as user-friendly and intuitive as possible, using simple navigation and clear menus to browse and download.

SurfPort provides subscribers with quick and easy access to entertainment services, email, search engines, positioning services, news services and more. The portal is available to more than 11 million customers across the Baltic regions. SurfPort is powered by ProvisionX, the outsourced mobile gaming service delivery platform owned by Glu.

Karin Rehbinder, director of global content management for TeliaSonera said: "Glu's launch on SurfPort is a great endorsement of our portal. The portfolio of high-quality, engaging mobile games will help us in our aim to provide SurfPort customers in the Nordic and Baltic countries with fun, useful and easy-to-use mobile internet services."

The Glu games channel will include many of the firm's bestselling mobile games, including Who Want's To Be A Millionaire?, Zuma, Ancient Empires and DRIV3R. Glu Mobile continues to expand its product portfolio through original and licensed products, partnering with a variety of companies such as Atari, Cartoon Network, FOX Sports, PopCap Games, and Twentieth Century Fox.
