GFI at GC 2008

Publisher reports a successful show, with 110 meetings conducted and vehicle combat game Clutch announced.

August 27, Moscow, Russia - This year Games Convention - as organisers reports say – has tracked down a record turnout rate of 203,000 people visiting this year's four-day expo, compared to 185,000 a year ago.

The number of exhibitors had risen from 503 to 547, the area occupied from 112,500 to 115,000 square metres, and the Games Convention had never been as international as it was this year: 234 companies came to Leipzig from other countries, compared to 189 in 2007.

The GC Business Centre also chalked up big increases, having been expanded by a third to 40,000 square metres. Altogether 14.600 trade visitors were counted here (2007: 12,300).

For Game Factory Interactive the event turned out to be very effective. We had a successful announce:

Kids titles: Mary In the Woods and The Adventures of the Little Red Riding Cap,

Glamorous series of life sim titles: Miss Chic: Business Girl , Party Girl , Romantic Girl and Sporty Girl ,

Line up of casual games: Drugstore Mania, Jessica. Mysterious Travel, Once upon a time in Chicago, Mahjong. Mysteries of the past.

On top of that we announced the hardcore vehicular combat Clutch , which is planned to see the light in Q1 2009.

Alongside with GC organizers, GFI noted its own new high scores. All in all we conducted about 110 meetings within 3 days! The meeting list comprises current and will-be partners – both publishers, distributors and the press. Among 6 press meetings, covering our line up, we organized 3 interviews with the company representatives, covering up general situation with the Russian Gaming market, the current declining popularity of PC games, growing success of consoles and the perspectives of MMO games. Also we’ve signed several contracts within GC, which will be announced in the near future.
