Genvid Technologies secures $33m in Series B funding round

Interactive streaming developer backed by Samsung, Huya and NTT Docomo

New York-based interactive streaming developer Genvid Technologies has closed a Series B funding round worth $33 million.

Broadcasting firm Huya, NTT Docomo Ventures, and Samsung Ventures joined the round late adding $6 million. The total amount Genvid has raised from investment is now $53 million.

The new finance will be used to accelerate interactive streaming capabilities across new platforms and markets.

Genvid also revealed that Jt Gleason, former head of developer relations at Twitch, has joined the company's advisory board.

"These new strategic investors are the ideal partners to drive our expansion from not only a platform standpoint, but into key global geographies," said CEO Jacob Navok.

"Samsung Ventures represents an opportunity to bring interactive streaming to TVs connected to mobile phones, while Huya will dramatically extend our reach in China and firmly establish Genvid as the 'write-once, deploy everywhere' solution for rich, synchronized interactivity."

For the record: This article previously stated that Huya, NTT Docomo Ventures, and Samsung Ventures led the round. This was incorrect, and the copy has been amended to reflect that.
