Genshin Impact passes $1bn on mobile

MiHoYo's open-world fantasy game passes revenue milestone six months after launch

Sensor Tower this week reported that Genshin Impact has generated $1.02 billion in player spending since its release on September 28, 2020.

The tracking firm said Genshin Impact is now the fastest mobile game to reach the $1 billion milestone on the App Store and Google Play, having achieved this goal within six months.

This title was previously held by Niantic's Pokémon GO, which generated $1 billion in nine months of release.

China has been the largest contributor to Genshin Impact player spending, accounting for 29.5% of the total.

Japan has been the next most lucrative market with 27.2% of player spending, followed the US with 18.5%.

Sensor Tower notes that this data does not include revenue from third-party Android stores used in China or other territories.
