Gen Fukunaga appointment

FUNimation boss joins board of "acousto-haptic technology" firm Immerz, Inc.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Encino, CA - February 25, 2011 – Immerz, Inc. announced today that it has appointed FUNimation President and Co-Founder, Gen Fukunaga, to the company’s Board of Directors. The appointment comes as the company prepares to launch its first product, KOR-fx™. Utilizing a new form of acousto-haptic technology, the KOR-fx will revolutionize the way consumers experience video games and other forms of multi-media when it is introduced later this year.  Immerz will showcase the KOR-fx at the Game Developers Conference(GDC) taking place next week, giving gaming insiders a chance to literally feel what happens in their own games.

“We are extremely honored to have Gen join the Immerz team, lending his expertise within the pop culture and gaming space to Immerz’ business,” said Shahriar S. Afshar, Immerz’ CEO and CTO. “Gen has already revolutionized the world of Anime, and has now joined forces with the next revolution in entertainment, Immerz.”

Gen Fukunaga is president, CEO and one of the original founders of FUNimation Entertainment, which manages, produces and distributes over 200 anime and live action titles including such popular properties as Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Afro Samurai, and more.

“I am thrilled to join Immerz and help propel one of the most exciting and cutting-edge technologies in entertainment industry in decades.  Shahriar is a visionary inventor, and I believe KOR-fx will quickly become the must-have technology for all users, platforms, and content providers,” said Gen Fukunaga, as he accepted the appointment.

Immerz has been honored with prestigious industry awards including the 2010 Popular Science Magazine Invention Award and Popular Science’s Best of What’s New in 2010 Award and hand-picked as one of the most innovative new consumer technologies by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in the 2010  i-Stage awards for its KOR-fx device.  KOR-fx uses the human anatomy itself to create a powerful sense of immersion to enhance video game play, movie watching and music listening. By delivering nearly imperceptible vibrations to select areas of the chest, KOR-fx activates neural pathways that subconsciously monitor vibrations of the chest cavity that naturally occur when speaking, laughing or crying.

Immerz will provide hands-on demos of KOR-fx and KOR-fx enhanced game content at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco ( Booth #1743) with Shahriar S. Afshar, the internationally-recognized physicist and entrepreneur who developed KOR-fx, available for interviews throughout the show. Immerz will also have a “Find Your Match” giveaway on the show floor, giving attendees the opportunity to win a KOR-enhanced software suite.
