Gedda-Headz

Online gaming, socialising and, we think, some toys too.

Press release

- for immediate publication –

Copenhagen, Denmark/ Berlin, Germany, 29 July 2009 – Gedda-Headz GmbH presents their brand new concept at gamescom 2009 in Cologne, Germany: Gedda-Headz. The mobile community combines mobile multiplayer games, social networking, collecting 2.0, and music.

The new mobile gaming concept will be introduced to visitors of the Cologne Games trade fair from 19-23 August 2009, in Hall 8.1, at booth A 33. Along with product presentations, Gedda-Headz figures will be handed out free and can be used immediately with your own mobile phone.

The Gedda-Headz, high-quality vinyl collectors’ items, come in cool designer tins and have a metal identity disc with an individual code. Uses can become members of the Gedda-Headz community with this code via their mobile phone, post and manage their Gedda-Headz collection on-line, and play with their favourite characters. The mobile game can be used with any JAVA-capable mobile phone and iPhone/iPod touch which connects players via Bluetooth, WiFi, and 3G. Thus, communications and games are also possible between JAVA and iPhone users.

The Gedda-Headz consist of six clans, each with six members, so that fans can collect a total of 36 Headz. Each Head has special characteristics, none is the same as the others in terms of skill, cleverness, or strength – characteristics which, for example, influence the mobile games which are available at no cost to members of the community.

‘It’s cool to care’ – the central principle of the community challenges you to show respect – for yourself and others. Users can make friends via mobile phone to exchange views and challenge each other to competitions in multiplayer mobile games with the goal of earning respect points and thus earn their position in the virtual metropolis of the Gedda-Headz. In order to ensure security for the users, friendship queries will only be permitted with confirmation and via Bluetooth before contact can be made.

Players receive respect points by playing, trading, and collecting new Headz, whose market launch will be exclusively from MediaMarkt and Saturn.

Using GPS and localising software, verified users can find other Headz any time.

The Gedda-Headz website also lets users manage their profile and Headz collection, view game statistics, and exchange messages.

Along with an integrated chat function on the mobile phone and exciting mobile games, like street hockey for every model mobile phone or Spark exclusively for iPhone and iPod Touch owners, there are also songs from the hip hop/rap band Gedda-Headz for Gedda-Headz users. The new band from Los Angeles, which will publish their first single Spaced Out on 1 August 2009, will support life in the virtual metropolis of the Gedda-Headz with cool music videos and an intoxicating beat. At first, the identities of the band members Jasper, Frank, and Zoe will be secret – they appear in the video as Gedda-Headz characters. The first sample of the song can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/geddaheadz, with more to follow in the course of the year.
