This year's European Game Developers' Conference gets underway in London this morning, with the first day of the three day conference featuring a number of tutorial tracks and the popular GDCE Mobile event.

Taking place in the new venue of the Cafî Royal, just off the bustling central hub of Piccadilly Circus in the heart of the city, GDCE will run through until Thursday and promises a wide range of keynote talks and sector-specific sessions.

Today's programme features the GDCE Mobile day, running alongside tutorial tracks in audio, game design and Microsoft game development, with the full programme getting underway tomorrow - and a distinct focus, for the first time, on next-gen development.

"I think we have some really amazing stuff that hasn't been done anywhere else this year, because we're coming in at a really great time in the cycle, right at the beginning," conference associate director told GamesIndustry.biz. "I can't really pick one session out, per se, but I think the breadth of things we're presenting is really great this year."
