GC - Games Convention 2008

21 - 24 August 2008

Press & Trade Visitor Day: 20 August 2008

Leipzig, 28 May 2008

With its exhibition Casemodding@GC, this year's GC - Games Convention brings the most creative gamers to Leipzig. From 21 to 24 August 2008, more than 30 entrants are at Europe's benchmark fair for interactive entertainment with their innovative converted PC cases. The Leipziger Messe awards the best presentations in the fifth GC CasemodMasters (GCCM) championship. Interested casemodders have until 27 July 2008 to enter for the exhibition and competition at www.gccm.de.

"No more boring PC cases!" This is the motto for more and more computer modellers who take their unremarkable PCs out from under the desk to create a worthy feature for their home furnishings. It's tuning with no holds barred. Whether with fascinating light effects or completely new functions, the main thing is to be nothing like the mass produced original. At the Games Convention 2008, the socalled casemodders will demonstrate again how a PC can be styled. From elegant media systems for the living-room to garish game PCs with special-effect painting, the Casemodding@GC show has the right model for every visitor.

Modellers are not the only ones to benefit from a tour of the special exhibition in Hall 4. Several times a day, professional casemodders show the basic manipulations for PC tuning and answer questions on technical and optical tricks. Throughout the entire weekend, the owners of the exhibits on display are here on the spot to explain their special characteristics.

Once again this year, the GC CasmodMasters is the highlight of the exhibition, with the best casemodders competing for what is now the fifth time. When all the applications have been received, 15 entrants each in the categories "Casemods" and "Casecons" will be invited to Leipzig to show their pieces to the judges and the public. Whilst casemods are conversions of existing series production cases, casecons are individually designed PC cases built from scratch. Alongside creativity, clean execution is what mainly counts in this contest. The winners will be announced at 3.00 pm on the Sunday of the fair.

The closing date for applications is 27 July 2008. Further information on participation is provided on the GCCM website www.gccm.de. The competition is organised by the Leipziger Messe and the experienced casemodding community team, casemodder.de.
