GC 2008

89,500 visitors received by half-way through.

GC - Games Convention 2008

21 - 24 August 2008

(Press & Trade Visitor Day: 20 August 2008)

Leipzig, 22 August 2008

Delighted faces everywhere at the GC - Games Convention 2008: by half time, 89,500 (2007: 81,000) visitors had already come to the Leipzig Exhibition Centre to try out the innovations presented by 547 exhibitors.

There was a big response to Friday's GC Job & Career Day. A large number of school and college students and university graduates took advantage of the occasion to talk to those responsible for human resources at exhibiting companies. The focus was on job and career opportunities in the games industry. "Anyone wanting to make a career out of their hobby is in the right place at the GC - Games Convention. In the GC Job & Career section in Hall 2, young games enthusiasts can find out about the various career options", says Peggy Schönbeck, project director for the GC - Games Convention.

Exhibitors were also very happy, among them Ralf Wirsing, general manager, Ubisoft Deutschland, who praised the very international character of the show. "The Games Convention is even more international again compared to last year. This is particularly obvious looking at the press presence from all over the world." Christopher R. Koeppler, managing director at Tivola Publishing GmbH, was also positive in his assessment of the first days: "The Games Convention has fully lived up to our expectations. There has been an outstanding response to our titles, both at meetings in the Business Centre and from the general public."

The GC - Games Convention is Europe's benchmark fair for interactive entertainment, infotainment, edutainment and hardware. Continuing through to Sunday, 547 exhibitors present their game line-ups on an area of 115,000 square metres, with more than 300 world, European and German premieres. Today and tomorrow, the halls are open from 9.00 to 20.00 and on Sunday till 18.00.
