New Version of Grand Strategy WWII Game Fixes Minor Bugs, Adds New Features

The new version 1.016 is now available from the Matrix Games website Games section and Member's Area.
Gary Grigsby's World at War places you at the helm of one of five possible powers in World War II: The Western Allies, China, Russia, Germany, or Japan. Command your army and coordinate your attacks. Gain supplies, resources, and factories to fuel your war machine. Manage your supplies and supply lines to ensure you have the resources necessary to capture territories and press your attacks. Gary Grigsby's World at War has been hailed as an elegant and accessible game design with adjustable realism and detail; where the difficulty can be tailored to your specific level and your opponents range from a challenging computer AI to up to four other human players
The new update focuses on fixing a few bugs, including one involving surprise attacks on nations not yet in the war and a rare problem with retreating from battle, as well a variety of minor fixes. Additionally, several improvements were made to the already formidable AI, making the AI nearly as dangerous as a skilled human player. Finally, some new features were added to help the game run on machines with less than 640 MB of Ram and allow the player to pause the game during AI turns, useful if you are watching the AI play to get a better understanding of the rules.
There were 18 fixes or changes to the game in total and Matrix Games recommends that all owners of Gary Grigsby's World at War download and install the patch. All games saved under the original v1.005 version should still work with the new patch installed, read the version history when you download the patch for information to ensure PBEM games can continue normally.
Gary Grigsby's World at War takes you through four World War II scenarios where five playable powers battle across thirty-eight different countries with fifteen different unit types. Each unit type has up to fourteen attributes, which you can upgrade through careful research of new technology during the war. The design covers everything from strategic movement to cold weather, nuclear weapons, special historical events and even managing supply lines in the advanced mode of the game. With a top-notch AI, Play-by-Email capability, and two in depth tutorials, Gary Grigsby's World at War will make you a general in a day but keep you occupied year round.
