Gaming Galore - Rackspace hosts site for European launch of Gizmondo

Gizmondo’s website readied as gaming enthusiasts poised to snap up new wireless entertainment device

London - February 11th, 2005 - Gizmondo Europe, a subsidiary of Tiger Telematics Inc. the designer, developer and marketer of mobile telematics systems and services, has announced a two year contract with Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe. The contract is to host the website and production environment for the European launch of Gizmondo, the new handheld multi-entertainment device set to take the gaming market by storm.

Rackspace is managing 15 servers for Gizmondo Europe out of its London datacentre, overseeing the hosting of Gizmondo's website and its online registration and gaming application. The eagerly awaited launch of Gizmondo will see gaming enthusiasts flock to the website (www.gizmondo.com <<a target="_new" class="releaselink" href="http://www.gizmondo.com>">http://www.gizmondo.com>) to be amongst the first to register for the device, which incorporates a movie and music player, a camera, messaging functions and an integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) for truly innovative mobile gaming.

Steve Carroll, CTO of Gizmondo Europe, comments: "Gizmondo Europe has been working on an ad hoc basis with Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe since last summer. The passion and commitment of Rackspace's employees has really impressed us and we wanted them to support us in our European launch."

Carroll continues: "Rackspace is very flexible in the way it works and this is one of the other reasons we were keen to use their services. The launch will see peaks and troughs in traffic visiting the site as new games are released and the European fan base grows. Consequently, we wanted to be able to ensure bandwidth capacity without being penalised for any unpredicted spikes. Scalability is also a hugely important issue for us as we roll out across Europe and Rackspace offers a service that will fully support our changing business needs."

Dominic Monkhouse, managing director Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe, comments: "Rackspace is all about Fanatical SupportTM, our customer service promise. Everyone who works at Rackspace, from our technical support specialists to our account managers, is passionate about what they do and they're always ready to go that extra mile. Our philosophy matches that of Gizmondo and we're looking forward to supporting them in their launch."
