GameShadow's PC gaming updates service is set to reach a much wider audience, as the company announces a new partnership with graphics card manufacturer ATI.

Under the new licensing agreement, ATI's latest Radeon graphics cards will come pre-packaged with a version of GameShadow, incorporated into its Catalyst driver CDs to simplify the process of updating drivers, graphics cards and PC software titles.

ATI's senior product manager, Terry Makedon stated: "Many PC games require driver patches or updates to fix bugs or simply breathe life into old games. GameShadow is an excellent tool for both casual gamers and the gaming enthusiast and we are pleased to be able to couple it with our Catalyst—¢ driver CDs."

Using a simple desktop application, the GameShadow service removes the chore of searching for patches, mods, updates and driver upgrades by automatically locating and installing up-to-the-minute upgrades for over 1,350 games. The system also supports ATI graphics card driver updates and essential system upgrades.

GameShadow CEO Tony Treadwell commented: "We were approached by ATI who had first-hand experience of GameShadow and liked what we were doing to help gamers get the latest updates and other files for their games. Of course, GameShadow delivers the latest drivers and updates for ATI cards as well, and we are delighted to be working with ATI to make gaming easier for millions of ATI customers."

The service is available as a free download with basic functionality, giving customers the option of subscribing to the full service for a nominal fee of GBP 9.95 per annum. The new partnership with ATI will promote the service to a much larger audience, and is viewed by both companies as the beginning of a broader, long-term relationship.

Treadwell added: "The more people see and try GameShadow the more they realize that it is a simple and effective way of keeping your games and drivers up-to-date. We are very excited about having GameShadow on the ATI CDs and look forward to further developing our relationship."

GameShadow intends to release an updated version of its service in November, which will include a number of enhancements, additional functions and service adjustments. However, no further specific details on the new version have been released so far.
