gamescom 2010

MCV and Develop on board as media partners.

The premiere trade and consumer show gamescom has appointed the B2B leaders MCV, The Market for Computer & Video Games, and Develop as media partners. The second edition of gamescom takes place in Cologne from 18th to 22nd of August, starting with a trade-only day on Wednesday. Last year's gamescom attracted 458 exhibitors from 31 countries and more than 245, 000 visitors; including 17, 000 trade visitors and from all over Europe and beyond.

"This agreement with MCV and Develop underlines the wide appeal of gamescom to the international business community," commented Oliver P. Kuhrt executive vice president of Koelnmesse.

"The gamescom was a tremendous success last year and has earned its place as the essential trade and consumer games event in Europe and beyond," commented Intent Media managing director Stuart Dinsey. "Similarly, MCV and Develop are leaders in their sectors - online and in print. We are very proud to have been selected as media partners and will help further grow gamescom's international reach."

Published by Intent Media, MCV and Develop are the dominant trade resources for the sectors. During the build-up to the event, both publications will offer previews and assistance for registration, trip planning and exhibitor news. There will also be special online coverage at www.mcvuk.com and www.develop-online.net before and during the show. MCV is published every week in print, but also dominates Europe with its daily email news bulletins and website. Develop, meanwhile, is the only website and magazine dedicated to the European game development community. The gaming days in Cologne start even before gamescom with the Game Developers Conference Europe (GDCE) from 16 to 18th of August. Joint marketing and editorial promotion initiatives have been agreed between gamescom and the two titles. Registration for gamescom has already opened. Exhibitors and trade visitors should go directly to the event's official website at www.gamescom-cologne.com.
