Games industry support of the Paddington Academy tops £1 million.

GamesAid, on behalf of the Entertainment Software Charity, is delighted to announce that the latest donation of £214,000 brings cumulative games industry support of the Paddington Academy to over £1 million.

“This latest donation is a fantastic achievement by the games industry,” said Rod Cousens, former chairman of the ESC. “Because of our long-term support of the academy we have been able to ensure that a great number of vulnerable young people with aspirations to better themselves have been able to do so.”

The video games industry adopted The Paddington Academy back in 2005 due to its focus on media and technology. Over the past three years payments have been paid to the Academy to support the good work, encouragement and fantastic facilities available for young individuals.

“It is amazing to see so much money raised by the games industry go to this project, and credit should be given to those people across all areas of the games industry who have helped to make this achievement possible," added GamesAid trustee, Sarah Seaby.

And in further support of the Paddington Academy, Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have agreed to re-release a limited edition of Colin McRae DiRT for PS3.

GamesAid fundraising is ongoing and the industry will have a say in how the money is distributed. Anyone who wishes to raise money for the Paddington Academy can still do so via GamesAid.
