GAMES?

New monthly online magazine features well-known writers covering less-well-known games.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A new online games magazine has launched today. 'GAMES?' is dedicated to coverage of the offbeat, esoteric, artistic and generally more unusual side of gaming.

The free monthly 'zine is edited by Ashton Raze, who also provides games coverage for The Telegraph in the UK.

The first issue is penned by writers whose credits include PC Gamer, PC Zone, NGamer, Kotaku and Gamasutra, among other high-profile publications.

It can be viewed at www.gamesquestionmark.com.

"Games get a lot of coverage," said Ashton Raze, editor of GAMES?.

"'Games?'? Not so much. Maybe they're indie gems that haven't quite hit the spotlight, forgotten titles given new life by their community, or well-known classics approached in new ways. We wanted a place in which to give these 'games' coverage - and thus, GAMES? lives.

"We feel that as with any expanding medium, there's a danger that certain games - or ways of playing - get overlooked to an extent. We want to rectify that in a publication free from the hype train or the constraint of covering all aspects of video games. It's a love letter to 'games' and a celebration of those who see our perception of gaming as something to expand, to manipulate and occasionally, to shatter."

Issue 1's cover feature is an exclusive hands-on preview of Dear Esther - Robert Briscoe's remake of 2008's cult Half-Life 2 mod of the same name.
