Games Distillery at GC

XBLA/PC download title AQUA shown off in Leipzig.

Bratislava, Slovakia/Weinheim, Germany, 08/29/2008

Games Distillery, independent developer of innovative games specially designed for digital distribution, draw a balance after an outstandingly successful trade show debut: All expectations towards the Games Convention 2008, staged from August 20th to 24th in Leipzig, Germany, were exceeded by far. Promising talks with publishers and press backed the interest in the young studio led by Juergen Reusswig and Slavo Hazucha and confirmed their business model.

At their first trade show appearance, Games Distillery seized the chance to communicate its positioning as a next-generation studio for downloadable content, to announce the company’s medium-term strategy and to present its product portfolio. Online is the future: Publishers as well as members of the media were impressed by the trend-setting business model of the company. Its focus on innovative games specially designed for digital distribution with comparatively short production cycles was well received among all dialog partners.

At the GC, the studio introduced its first projects – among them, AQUA (working title) took center stage. AQUA is a next-generation arcade action game for XBLA and PC, set in a Victorian-inspired naval setting. The title features a distinctive visual style as well as graphical and physics effects on a real next-gen level. It was presented in an early running version and took much credit by the expert public even in its current development stage.

Development Director Juergen Reusswig:

“We are highly pleased with our Games Convention performance. The interest in Games Distillery is enormous and our business model has received enthusiastic approval. The debut project AQUA attracted a great deal of attention. The outstanding feedback of the industry representatives has further encouraged our plans to lift the development possibilities of next-generation arcade games to a higher level.”

Announcements about further product details and first strategic partnerships will follow shortly.
