Games companies line up for San Diego Comic-Con

Publishers and developers will be attending this year's event, vying for consumers' attention

The San Diego Comic-Con is to feature a strong turnout from videogames companies, when the event kicks off next month.

This year's event will feature sessions such as "Worlds Collide: The Making of Midway's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" - a talk between Mortal Kombat's creator Ed Boon and DC Comics' Jimmy Palmiotti about the forthcoming crossove game.

And among the exhibitions, FireSky and MGM Home Entertainment will be showing off their new Stargate Worlds MMO, based of the popular sci-fi TV show.

Also exhibiting at the event will be companies including Activision, Capcom, EA, Namco Bandai, NCsoft, Sierra Entertainment, Sony, THQ and Ubisoft, among others - highlighting how the event is increasingly important to videogame companies eager to reach out directly to consumers.

The San Diego Comic-Con takes place July 24-27, at the San Diego Convention Centre.
