GamerLympics

Two weeks of gaming events organized by The Escapist.

For Immediate Release

Durham, NC – August 6, 2008 – In the spirit of international competition, The Escapist is bringing the “Games” back to gamers with GamerLympics, a free gamer-centric community event pitting gamers’ creativity, knowledge and competitiveness in over 20 events spanning a two week period.

The GamerLympics is offering competitive and fun events, from trivia to games to Photoshop fun, for all gamers to enjoy. In addition, we’ve partnered up with industry elites to enhance the competitive nature, excitement and flare of this already extravagant formation of events. Kongregate.com will be hosting 11 independent flash based games and Nokia has created a “King of the Hill” event featuring their new N-Gage platform release, Reset Generation for all GamerLympic participants.

“We are really excited to be hosting the first ever GamerLympics," says Julianne Greer, Editor-in-Chief of The Escapist. "This is a great opportunity for the gaming community to get together for some good-spirited fun, so we want to encourage the gaming community to come over and participate in the multiple events that will test their knowledge, creativity and gaming skills. We are also thrilled to have Kongregate and Nokia along for the ride to make sure there is range of events in which every type of gamer can find something they will enjoy."

The GamerLympics will start on August 8th, 2008 and event updates will be posted everyday until August 22nd. All events are completely free but participants must register to enjoy the fun.
