Gameloft to produce games for BlackBerry

Publisher signs up for ISV Alliance program

Mobile game firm Gameloft has confirmed plans to develop, publish and distribute games for BlackBerry smartphones.

Gameloft is already a member of the BlackBerry ISV Alliance and the first wave of titles it has produced for the handset includes Block Breaker Deluxe, Asphalt Urban GT 2, New York Nights and Midnight Pool.

The line-up also includes console port Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones and TV tie-in Lost. Additional titles will be announced at a later date.

"With worldwide brand recognition and millions of loyal users the BlackBerry platform represents a tremendous opportunity for Gameloft," said Gameloft president Michel Guillemot.

"Given the technology advancements embedded in smartphones such as the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8800 and RIM's rapidly growing customer base, we believe now is the ideal time to bring our quality games to this award-winning platform."
