Game Initiative announces Seattle conference on industry jobs

Videogames industry conference organiser The Game Initiative has announced that it is to hold an event in Seattle next month focusing on the needs of students and professionals who want to break into the interactive entertainment industry.

The Seattle Video Game Industry Job Conference and Resume Workshop (which could probably do with a somewhat snappier name) will take place in Seattle's Shoreline Centre on February 12th.

The day-long conference will include a number of presentations on breaking into the industry, opportunities for networking with industry professionals and recruiters, and a workshop session designed to give attendees critical interviews with hiring managers.

The event is sponsored by industry recruitment firm Mary-Margaret.com and managers from local game companies are also expected to attend on the day.

"The detailed resume workshop and casual atmosphere of the conference with the allows attendees an unprecedented opportunity to interact with industry veterans, ask questions, gain valuable contacts and resume secrets of getting into the business," according to Game Initiative executive director Christopher Sherman.

"The comprehensive program will provide an overview of the industry, identify technology trends and requirements as well as the qualifications and skill-sets that are in demand," he continued.
