London - 20th September 2007 - devotii and Fnatic today announced the kick-off the long-awaited Game Idol: The fnatic Academy 2007 team gaming event on devotii. Tournament organizers, devotii, Crossfire, and fnatic expect all-out war as the competition hots up.

75 teams across the UK have gathered to compete in the most illustrious Call of Duty 2 event Europe has ever witnessed. As well as a delicious 2500 cash first prize and 5000 overall prize fund, winners of the tournament will be invited to join the world-famous pro-gaming team fnatic as their official Call of Duty 2 team.

The group stages will run Mon 17th September to Sat 13th October. The final 8 teams will go through to the elimination rounds to take place at the Crossfire devotii Challenge LAN party in Enschede, Holland on the 2-4th November.

"Game Idol has the makings of a landmark event, judging by the interest is attracted," Paul Sulyok, CEO of The TNWA Group said. "Obviously the cash prize is very attractive, but the majority of teams have been drawn to the tournament by the lure of global notoriety that pro-gaming can bring."

Indeed, the event has attracted some of the top pro teams in Europe, including: H2k-gaming, Team-Dignitas, Reason-Gaming, and Roskilde-eSport. More information on the event can be found at the www.devotii.com along with a leader board to track how the teams are doing.

"This event is all about finding the best of the best, and an amazing opportunity for Call of Duty 2 players to make the leap from amateur to pro status," said Sam Matthews from fnatic.
