DUSK2DAWN Interactive Limited (D2D) has joined forces with G DATA’s UK Distribution Partner, Infinite Business Ltd, in a marketing deal which will see all of D2D’s PC range carry a trial version of the preferred European Anti-Virus Solution, TotalCare 2008 – which comes complete as standard with the first publicised ‘GAMERS FIREWALL’ technology.

The deal will see the games company carry the 130Mb free 30-day trial version of TotalCare 2008 on all of its 20 planned game titles for 2008 and will also be included as an easy download on it’s older back catalogue too.

“Gamers can be at huge risk from hackers,” began Matt Baker, Director of Infinite Business Limited. “When a port opens to allow the game to play in multiplayer mode over the Internet, hackers can take advantage of both unprotected computers and inefficient firewalls.”

“G DATA’s TotalCare 2008 has been optimised for gamers use, a feature that Directors at Dusk2Dawn are very keen on as they are presently working on a new MMORPG, planned for Christmas this year.”

The G DATA gamers firewall manages all game related communications and blocks all other unapproved traffic while the game session is in progress. Players running TotalCare will see a screen prior to connecting to a server asking if they wish to enter the gamers autopilot mode.

The autopilot will never interrupt a player with pop-up questions during play, it will also utilise a highly developed artificial intelligence that will determine what information the game needs to use to operate and reject anything it finds that is not game related.

“It works behind the scenes,” said Baker. “TotalCare optimises the PC resources, whilst keeping hackers and malware out. Many gamers are blissfully unaware that their own anti-virus software might lower its firewall to allow game connections – opening vital ports to hackers or ask for further connection information during gameplay, which can be highly annoying.

“This deal with Dusk2Dawn is the first of many innovative partnerships that Infinite Business will be forging over the coming months. We’ve agreed that every game will carry a banner on the cover to advertise the free trial software, which is included on the gamedisk,” concluded Baker.

The first title to carry the software will be Dusk2Dawn’s new multi-genre police’em-up game: ‘URBAN CRISIS’*.
