FuturePlay 2006: The International Academic Conference on the Future of Game Design and Technology

What: Call for Game Submissions for FuturePlay 2006

FuturePlay, the yearly international academic conference on the future of game design and technology, brings together academics, industry, and students to advance game design and technology through peer-reviewed research, creative and experimental game design and development, as well through formal and informal discussion on academic and industry-related topics. Initiated in 2002 and run by Algoma University College, home to North America's first MSc Computer Games Technology (www.mastersdegreeingaming.com), the conference continues to provide insight into the future of game development, the future of game impacts and applications and the future of game talent.

Kindly hosted by the University of Western Ontario, FuturePlay 2006 is taking place October 10-12, 2006 at the London Convention Centre, London, Ontario, Canada.

When: Game submissions are being accepted now through September 8, 2006

Details:
The games exhibition is a peer-reviewed competition of games in three categories: Future (experimental) Games, Serious Games, and Student Games. The FuturePlay Game Exhibition and Competition will allow academic, independent, experimental, and/or student developers to gain recognition for their game-related work in a peer-reviewed setting. Developers can submit to the exhibition in the following categories:

· Future Games - this category is for games that experiment with new game technologies or design concepts.

· Future Game Impacts and Applications - this category is for games that are built not necessarily for pure entertainment purposes (i.e. serious games), such as games that are for learning purposes.

· Future Game Talent - this category is primarily for students who have built an original, entertainment game title and wish to show off your talents, earn publicity for your school, gain personal recognition, and perhaps even find a publisher for that game.

Full Details Regarding Game Submissions and the judging process can be found at the official FuturePlay website - http://www.futureplay.org. This site also contains the new FuturePlay commercial, updates and additional conference information.
