FreeStyleGames: "No decisions have been taken"

DJ Hero developer breaks silence following franchise axe; is "actively working" with Activision

FreeStyleGames, the company behind the DJ Hero games - which were dramatically cut along with the rest of the Guitar Hero business unit by publisher Activision last night - has issued a brief statement on its immediate future.

According to the few lines, attributed to founders David Osbourn, Jamie Jackson and Chris Lee, the company is currently examining the possibilities, but claimed that no jobs had yet been lost.

"We're actively working with Activision on various options going forward for the studio. No decisions have been taken at this stage. We appreciate everyone's support through this process and will be as open and transparent as possible as soon as we know more."

The move by Activision was announced alongside the publisher's Q4 and calendar 2010 financial results, alongside the news that the True Crime game - already a good way into development and with previews in games magazines this month - was also being cut.

Further into the filing the company estimated that 500 jobs would be lost as a result, at a cost of between $35-50 million - but it offered no details on where those jobs would fall specifically.
