Ford Foundation president joins EA's board

Luis Ubiñas is publisher's latest director

EA has announced that Ford Foundation president Luis Ubiñas is to join its board of directors.

The Ford Foundation is a major US grants body dedicated to supporting charitable and artistic causes, originally created by Ford Motor Company executives.

The Foundation boasts $10 billion in assets and %500 million in annual donations.

Ubiñas was previously a director at management consulant McKinsey & Company, where he concentrated on technology, telecommunications and media companies.

He also sits on committees such as the World Bank Advisory Council of Global Foundation Leaders and the UN Permanent Advisory Memorial Committee, and enjoyed an endorsement from President Obama to join the US Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiation.

"Luis is a strong addition to our Board," said EA CEO John Riccitiello. "He brings a deep understanding of digital opportunities in media and entertainment, and an impressive mix of strategic and operational management experience."

Ubiñas replaces Gary Kusin, who is to step down from the board after 15 years, including a three-year stint as lead director ending last year.
