For Honor holds off Halo Wars 2 in UK charts

Sniper Elite 4 drops to No.5

Ubisoft's For Honour dropped 72% in physical sales during its second week, but still retains the No.1 spot.

It will be interesting to see how this game performs over time. It's not unusual for a big core title to drop significantly in sales during its second week, however, Ubisoft expects this to be one of its 'Live' titles, so the firm will hope to see it hang around in the charts in the months ahead.

The continued success of For Honor means it hasn't been an especially strong first week for Xbox's Halo Wars 2, although the Xbox One version of the game was the biggest selling individual SKU of the week. It's also important to note that Halo Wars 2 was also released on PC and is in a genre (RTS) that is typically popular on that platform. Most PC games are sold digitally and those numbers are not included in these charts.

The original Halo Wars did significantly better in its first week, yet the market has changed significantly since February 2009 (when that game was released). The Halo franchise remains strong in the UK, although the performance of the last few titles in the series suggests that the IP is facing some headwinds.

Last week's No.2, Sniper Elite 4, is now at No.5 with a respectable 64% drop in sales. GTA V stays at No.3 despite a 23% sales dip, while FIFA 17 holds its place at No.4 with a 21% sales slide.

It's a very quiet week for games retail, but then this the calm before the storm. Next week's charts data will include the performance of PS4's Horizon: Zero Dawn and Nintendo Switch. Games retailers are banking on both products to help lift the market and secure a strong end to the financial year.
