Fishlabs captures the spirit of football

Mobile publisher plants one in the back of the net with Penalty Cup 3D

In a bid to capitalise on World Cup fever, German mobile games studio Fishlabs has announced the launch of Penalty Cup 3D for java-enabled handsets.

Penalty Cup 3D strips the beautiful game down and focusing entirely on the most nerve-wracking and exciting aspects. Gamers must select the gender and nationality of their player before challenging fans around the world to a nail-biting penalty shootout tournament, played via GPRS/UMTS networks and supported by Exit Games Neutron.

Michael Schade, Fishlabs CEO, commented: "With its straight forward game play and cute characters, Penalty Cup 3D appeals to both male and female gamers. We put a large amount of effort into a set of detailed animations, cut scenes and replays to give the game an extra touch of drama."

Harald Behnke, CEO of Exit Games, added: "As being currently witnessed in Germany, soccer naturally brings people from all over the world together. With Penalty Cup 3D tournaments we managed to transfer this experience onto the mobile phone and create a large community of players."

The game is currently live on Fifaworldcup.com, and can be downloaded from Cingular, Yahoo, AOL, Sony Eriksson and numerous additional portals.
