Southern Region is the latest offering from respected train driving simulation developer Blue Arrow and published on a worldwide basis in May 2005 by First Class Simulations.

Along with a broad selection of locomotives and rolling stock, the team that brought you the legendary title Severn Valley Railway has recreated much of the southern regional network from just outside Woking all the way to Basingstoke in this latest offering.

Set in the mid 1960's, this twenty-five mile stretch was an exceptionally busy piece of track carrying trains from London Waterloo to Southampton, Bournemouth, Weymouth and the west of England. There are four tracks running throughout the length of the line basically consisting of two slow and two fast lines. The slow lines carry freight and stopping trains whereas the fast lines carry express trains.

Southern Region comes with a full complement of stock. Of particular note is the inclusion of the Battle of Britain 21C164 Fighter Command and the Bulleid designed coaches.

Starting from just outside Woking, your journey winds its way along the South West line through Brookwood, once distinguished by its own branch line serving the London Necropolis, a green field cemetery used to relieve the pressure on London's graveyards. Crossing the Ascot to Ash and Reading to Guildford lines you will then make a sweeping curve into Farnborough before moving on to Fleet, Winchfield and Hook and then finally arriving at your destination, Basingstoke.
