Fearless New Price for Cold Fear Game

For Immediate Release March 2006

[heading/]Leading budget software publisher Focus Multimedia and worldwide videogame developer Ubisoft are further strengthening their partnership with the release of another fantastic Ubisoft Exclusive into Focus' Revival range of super-budget PC CD-ROM software. Cold Fear, the sea-based survival horror title first released in April 2005 is out now with a new, low SRP of just £4.99.

Conceived by leading Parisian videogame studio, Darkworks, creators of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful title, "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare", the horror title has been favourably compared to the highly respected Resident Evil series. According to GamePro, "Cold Fear is an impressive achievement, and the first game to offer a serious alternative to the venerable Resident Evil series."

With further media praise showered upon the game's forbidding atmosphere, engrossing horror action and superb environmental effects, Cold Fear offers PC gamers an intense and innovative horror experience and, as you'd expect from the 18 BBFC rating, plenty of chilling third person action and blood-soaked gameplay.

After selling over 500,000 copies worldwide, the intense horror action has caught the eye of film production houses and the motion picture version of Cold Fear is set to begin shooting imminently. Darkworks are confident that the strong storyline of the game will translate well to the silver screen and sales of the game are certain to reach new heights, particularly at its new £4.99 price point.

In the game, players take on the persona of Tom Hansen, a leading US coastguard who receives a distress call from a seemingly derelict Russian whaler adrift in the Bering Sea. In the midst of a ferocious Arctic storm, Tom and his crew are sent to investigate the mysterious vessel - and find horrors lurking beneath the bloodstained decks. With clever enemies in the form of the mutated undead along with vicious Russian mercenaries, players must shoot their way through a terrifying nightmare as the ship's deck lurches realistically beneath their feet.

Key Features include:

  • Clever action; use clever traps to eliminate fiendish enemies

  • Large array of weapons; including shotguns and flame throwers

  • Realistic storm environment; raging weather and waves affect game progress

  • Constantly shifting environment; cling on, avoid deadly falls and lure enemies to their death

  • A riveting storyline

  • Vast environments; from mysterious whaler ship to deadly oil rig

Craig Johnson, managing director of Focus Multimedia commented, "We are delighted to be working with Ubisoft to bring such a recent release to the budget sector. Cold Fear offers outstanding graphics and gameplay and with the announcement of a movie in the making, looks set to be another best-selling Revival title."

Cold Fear is available now from all good software outlets for the SRP of £4.99. For more information on Focus Multimedia's range of games and software, please visit www.focusmm.co.uk.
