Fate of the World

Red Redemption's eco-strategy game to be released in February via Steam.

Red Redemption, the Oxford-based independent development studio, have secured a worldwide distribution deal with the one of the largest online gaming platforms, Steam for Fate of the World - a dramatic strategy game covering the next 200 years in which the player must find a way to protect Earth's ever-depleting resources and climate whilst reconciling the needs of a growing world population who demand more food, power, and living space. Fate of the World is playing to an increasingly large media outreach even though it not due to launch worldwide until February with ever increasing exposure including BBC World News, CNN, NY Times.com (twice), The Guardian, Wired, Gama Sutra and National Geographic. . Fate of the World is a sequel to Red Redemption’s successful Climate Challenge game sponsored by the BBC, which has been played by over one million people since its launch in 2007.

Steam turns any PC or Mac into a gaming powerhouse by providing instant access to a huge library of titles, and by automatically keeping a user’s games completely up to date. With an active user-base of over 30 million, Steam also connects gamers with each other, making it easy to find friends, keep track of each other’s gaming activity, and easily play games together.

Gobion Rowlands, Director, Red Redemption, says: "We are delighted to have secured one of the world's largest online gaming platforms for Fate of the World - the game will have broad appeal and so we are thrilled to have found a distribution partner that can recognise this and maximise its full potential."

To date Fate of the World has attracted unusual channel partnerships with organizations like Oxfam and TckTckTck.

Fate of the World is available now to pre-order with an option of taking part in their beta at  www.fateoftheworld.net and Red Redemption are seeking a boxed launch early 2011.
