Sony Online Entertainment Introduces PVP Into EverQuest® II with a Colorful "Arabian Nights" Theme in Desert of Flames, the Game's First Expansion Pack.

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 21, 2005 - Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online gaming, has released EverQuest®II Desert of FlamesTM, the first expansion pack for the company's popular PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMO) since its launch in November 2004. EverQuest II Desert of Flames, marking the game's first introduction to player-versus-player combat with vibrantly colorful new areas to explore, is available now for the suggested retail price of U.S. $29.99. This exciting expansion is in addition to regular updates subscribers have received throughout the past 10 months at no additional cost.

In Desert of Flames, players will experience exciting gameplay-changing features and can explore never-before-seen areas filled with new quests, monsters, and loot. Desert of Flames is centered around the newly discovered, vibrantly colorful city of Maj'dul. Set in an Arabian nights theme, players can choose to battle in special new arenas either against other players or against creatures in a new style of player-versus-player combat called Arena Champions. Other exciting features include a dozen new zones and epic encounters, over 30 new creatures, a level range increase to 60 for all players, and new voice-over emotes for player characters.

Players who purchase Desert of Flames at a retail store will get a magic genie bottle that will whisk them away to a secret location, and a special gazing orb for your character. In addition to in-game items, customers that purchase the retail version will also receive a poster map of the Isle of Ro. Those who purchase Desert of Flames digitally from Sony Online Entertainment will receive both the genie bottle and an in-game painting for their character's house.
